TEHRAN, IRAN April 1, 2026 — In a firm show of defiance amid escalating regional tensions, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Iran stands ready to repel a potential U.S. ground invasion, declaring, “We are waiting for them.”
The remarks, captured in a widely circulated video clip shared today by BRICS News on X (formerly Twitter), come as the United States and its allies continue airstrikes and pressure on Iran over its nuclear programme and regional influence. Araghchi emphasised Iran’s military preparedness during what appears to be excerpts from a recent interview.
“We did not start this war, but we defended ourselves with strong defence,” Araghchi said in the clip. “The losses inflicted on their radars in the region, planes especially strategic aircraft… We know very well how to defend ourselves. In a land battle we have more experience and training. We are fully prepared to face any threat or attack on our country.”
He added that Tehran does not believe Washington would dare launch a ground operation due to the expected “huge losses” it would suffer.
The statement recirculates comments Araghchi made in an NBC News interview earlier this month (around 5 March 2026), which have resurfaced today as tensions remain high. U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened decisive action against Iran, including possible further military steps, while also signalling openness to negotiations.
The BRICS News post, which has already garnered thousands of views and engagements within hours, frames the clip as “JUST IN” and highlights Iran’s readiness in the face of reported U.S. threats to control strategic islands and secure land access in the region.
Iran has consistently maintained that it seeks to avoid wider conflict but will respond forcefully to any direct aggression on its soil. Araghchi stressed that any ground invasion attempt would be met with experienced and well-trained Iranian forces.
This latest rhetorical exchange underscores the fragile balance in the Middle East, where airstrikes, proxy clashes, and high-level threats continue to dominate headlines. Observers note that while Washington has not confirmed plans for a ground invasion, Iran’s public posture aims to deter escalation and project strength.
Life News Agency will continue monitoring developments as both sides navigate the delicate path between confrontation and potential de-escalation.
