International Drug Syndicate Busted, Seizures Worth Over RM2 Million

MUAR. JOHOR, Malaysia. Aug 1 2025 –  Police successfully dismantled an international drug distribution syndicate in a special operation across Johor and the Klang Valley, with drug seizures valued at over RM2 million and the arrest of 10 suspects, including one Indonesian national.

The Director of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) Bukit Aman, Dato’ Hussein Omar Khan, said the operation was launched simultaneously from 2pm to 5pm yesterday, based on intelligence information.

“All suspects, aged between 29 and 70, were apprehended in four raid series,” he said during a press conference at the Senior Officers’ Mess, Muar District Police Headquarters (IPD) today.

From the raids, police seized 61.3 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and 105 pills suspected to be ecstasy, estimated to potentially harm over 306,000 lives.

Initial investigations revealed the syndicate has been active since October 2024, with members receiving payments ranging from RM3,000 to RM15,000 per month.

Six suspects tested positive for drugs including methamphetamine, ketamine, THC, and benzo through urine tests, while three others have prior criminal records under the Dangerous Drugs Act, Penal Code, and Firearms Act.

In addition to the drug seizures, police also confiscated assets worth approximately RM725,655 under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988, including five luxury cars, two high-powered motorcycles, international brand watches, jewelry, luxury handbags, and RM2,580 in cash.

The total value of all seizures and confiscations amounts to RM2.701 million.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty by hanging or life imprisonment along with no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

Following the press conference, Dato’ Hussein joined the Friday Prayers Program at Masjid Sultan Ibrahim, Muar, and presented a donation to the mosque representative as a gesture of JSJN and IPD Muar’s support for religious institutions and the local community.

Also present were Deputy Director of Narcotics (Intelligence/Operations) Datuk Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali, Senior Assistant Director of Narcotics (Intelligence/International Relations) SAC Mohd Afzanizam Yahaya, Assistant Director of Narcotics (Intelligence/International Relations) ACP Hairi Ramlan, Johor JSJN Chief ACP Mohamad Alpiyang Ali, Muar District Police Chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz, as well as representatives from JSJN Bukit Aman and IPD Muar personnel.

Dato’ Hussein emphasized that this success reflects JSJN’s ongoing commitment to eradicating drug crimes to ensure the safety and well-being of Malaysians.
