KUALA LUMPUR, SINGAPORE, Oct 23 (Bernama) – Malaysia is positioning itself as a key investment destination for Singapore businesses, with opportunities across manufacturing, the digital economy, logistics, renewable energy, healthcare and advanced technologies.
The inaugural Invest Malaysia Day 2026, held yesterday, brought together more than 200 investors and businesses in Singapore to explore investment opportunities, obtain business advisory support and establish cross-border partnerships.
Organised by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), CIMB Singapore and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), the forum connected participants with federal investment agencies, state development authorities and industry partners.
The event was officiated by Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin.
Keynote addresses were also delivered by Selangor state executive councillor Ng Sze Han, Johor state executive councillor Lee Ting Han and Pahang state executive councillor Mohamad Nizar Mohamad Najib, alongside representatives from SBF and CIMB Singapore.
MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said Malaysia’s investment prospects were supported by established industrial ecosystems, regional connectivity and national initiatives, including the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, National Energy Transition Roadmap and Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.
He said MIDA would help investors identify suitable locations, understand regulations and incentives, and connect with relevant federal and state agencies to facilitate business expansion.
The programme featured briefings on Malaysia’s business environment, priority sectors, investment incentives and state-level economic developments in Selangor, Johor and Pahang.
CIMB group chief sustainability officer Luanne Sieh also shared insights on sustainable business opportunities, renewable energy and incentives linked to Malaysia’s green transition.
A panel discussion examined Malaysia’s appeal as an investment destination, with participation from representatives of MIDA, the Malaysian Immigration Department, the Human Resources Ministry, Knight Frank Malaysia and CIMB Singapore.
Afternoon sessions highlighted sector-specific investment opportunities and facilitation support in Selangor, Pahang, Sarawak and Johor.
CIMB Singapore head of commercial and transaction banking Benjamin Tan said stronger economic ties between Singapore and Malaysia would be vital in unlocking regional opportunities, particularly as Singapore prepares to assume the ASEAN chairmanship in 2027.
SBF chief internationalisation and chief smart enterprise officer Lee Yee Fung said the federation would continue helping Singapore companies at every stage of their expansion into Malaysia, including by connecting them with government agencies, financial institutions and industry players.
Ten exhibitors, comprising state government agencies and industrial park developers, also showcased investment opportunities and business support services available across Malaysia.
The organisers said the strong participation reflected growing confidence in Malaysia’s economic outlook and the importance of closer bilateral cooperation in strengthening regional growth and competitiveness.
