Ismail, today officiated the Closing Ceremony of the Basic Sea Combat Course for Sabah Brigade, General Operations Force (PGA) Series 1/2026, held at Payang Beach Resort, Lahad Datu.
The ceremony witnessed 43 officers and personnel successfully completing the 35-day intensive training with distinction, demonstrating a significant enhancement in the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) maritime security operational capabilities, particularly in the strategic waters of Sabah.
Participants in the course came from various PGA battalions, the Marine Police Force Region 4 Lahad Datu, and the PGA Studies Branch of the Kota Kinabalu Police Training Centre. The training took place at Battalion 17 PGA Lahad Datu and Adal Island, covering amphibious warfare skills, combat boat handling, marine navigation, sea patrol techniques, and naval combat operations in the waters of Lahad Datu and Semporna.
The event began with a live demonstration of Sea Combat operational capabilities by the participants, showcasing their level of readiness and tactical proficiency in addressing security threats along Sabah’s coastal and maritime areas.
In his speech, Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khalid emphasized that the course represents a strategic and critical initiative by PDRM to strengthen the country’s maritime security operational capacity. He expressed pride in the participants’ commitment and described them as valuable assets to the force.
“Now that you have equipped yourselves with new knowledge and skills, you are no longer ordinary personnel. You are valuable operational assets and catalysts for enhancing the Force’s capabilities, particularly in maritime security and amphibious operations,” he said.
He also highlighted ongoing threats such as militant activities, piracy, firearms smuggling, and cross-border crimes, which demand the highest level of readiness—especially in Sabah, a strategically important border region.
During the ceremony, completion certificates were presented to all participants as recognition of their achievement. Inspector Mohd Azrul Muhammad from Battalion 16 PGA Kota Kinabalu was named Overall Best Participant and received a certificate of appreciation and a plaque for his outstanding performance throughout the course.
