KUALA LUMPUR, MALQYSIQ October 17, 2025 – Inspector-General of Police Dato’ Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail extended Selamat Hari Deepavali 2025 greetings to all members of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Indian community nationwide, while underscoring the importance of unity, safety, and mutual respect in celebrating this Festival of Lights.
In his special message titled “Message from the Inspector-General of Police on the Occasion of the 2025 Deepavali Celebration,” Mohd Khalid described Deepavali as a symbol of light triumphing over darkness, as well as a emblem of harmony and unity among Malaysia’s multicultural society. “The Deepavali celebration not only symbolizes the victory of light over darkness but also serves as a symbol of harmony, unity, and love among the diverse communities in this country,” he stated, aligning with the core principles of Malaysia MADANI that strengthen inter-ethnic bonds for shared prosperity.
He further reminded that the true joy of the festivities lies in the happiness of gathering with family, relatives, and friends, rather than in extravagance alone. “A modest celebration remains special when infused with love and a sense of gratitude,” he added, urging everyone to embrace the occasion with heartfelt appreciation.
Amid the joyful atmosphere, Mohd Khalid called on the public to prioritize personal, family, and property safety. His advice included ensuring homes are secured when left unattended, avoiding negligence that could invite crime, and adhering to road safety rules to arrive safely at destinations. “In this atmosphere full of joy, I want to remind everyone to always prioritize the safety of oneself, family, and property,” he said.
He also expressed profound appreciation to PDRM personnel on duty throughout the festive period to ensure public safety and tranquility. “The highest appreciation to PDRM members who are on duty throughout the festive period to ensure that public safety and order remain guaranteed, peaceful, and harmonious. Serve with full dedication and integrity,” he emphasized.
The message concluded with hopes that Deepavali would bring rays of happiness, health, and prosperity to all, accompanied by the PDRM motto “Police and Community Shall Not Be Divided.”
