KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia June 27, 2025 – Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khalid Hj. Ismail graced the National Maal Hijrah 1447H/2025M Celebration, organized by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) this morning.
The event was elevated by the presence of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, accompanied by His Royal Highness Tunku Idris Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Temenggong of Johor. His Majesty was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) contributed to the festive atmosphere, with 17 personnel from various departments participating, symbolizing strong support for the agenda of Muslim unity and the spirit of Maal Hijrah.
The ceremony commenced with a doa recitation by the Federal Territories Mufti, Hj. Ahmad Fauwaz Fadzil, followed by a special Maal Hijrah Tausiyah delivered by Associate Professor Dato’ Dr. Hj. Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This was succeeded by a welcoming address from the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Senator Dato’ Setia Dr. Hj. Mohd Na’im Hj. Mokhtar, before His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim delivered the Royal Address to over 8,000 attendees.
This year’s theme, “Membangun Ummah MADANI” (Building a MADANI Ummah), calls on Muslims to emulate the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) migration spirit in fostering a civilized, inclusive, and balanced society, both spiritually and physically.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the National Maal Hijrah Awards 1447H/2025M. Dato’ Dr. Hj. Nooh Gadot, Chairman of the Muzakarah Committee of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia, was honored as the National Maal Hijrah Figure, while Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, H.E. Dr. Tawfig Fawzan Al-Rabiah, was recognized as the International Maal Hijrah Figure.
Also in attendance were Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Johari Abdul, Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Director-General of Public Services Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Hj. Abdul Aziz, Attorney General Dato’ Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, heads of federal and state government departments and agencies, and distinguished international representatives.
