PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA January 13, 2026 – The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) today denied that images circulating on social media depicting the new passport and MyKad designs are official, stressing that the visual designs are not authentic and do not represent the actual designs.
In an official media statement released this afternoon, KDN clarified that the images in question — including an infographic titled “NEW: Malaysia Passport & MyKad 2026” showing a dark blue passport with new security features, along with details on fees and renewal instructions — were not issued by the ministry and do not reflect the planned final designs.
KDN referred to the official announcement made by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on 8 January 2026, confirming plans to roll out new passports and MyKad this year. However, all official details regarding designs, security features, and implementation timelines will be announced solely through KDN’s official communication channels in due course.
The public is reminded to always refer to authentic and authoritative sources to ensure accuracy and avoid confusion or the spread of inaccurate information.

KDN also reiterated its advice against rushing to renew existing documents, as there is no immediate requirement until official announcements are made.
The statement was issued in response to the widespread circulation of these images across social media platforms in recent days.
