PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA October 17, 2025 – Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail made a brief visit to the First Anniversary Celebration of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) before chairing today’s Post-Cabinet Meeting, while commending the agency’s achievements that have directly impacted national security and sovereignty.
In his statement, he described AKPS as the “youngest sibling” in the large family of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), but despite being established only a year ago, the agency has already demonstrated firm and confident strides. “In a short period, they have shown work results that directly impact the security and sovereignty of the homeland,” he said, highlighting AKPS’s early efficiency in managing the nation’s borders.
Datuk Seri Saifuddin expressed great hopes that this momentum would be sustained, advising the agency not to become complacent too quickly. “Don’t get complacent too soon; instead, continue learning, innovating, and adapting to new challenges at borders that are becoming increasingly complex,” he stressed, emphasizing the need for ongoing adaptation amid increasingly intricate security threats.
He also views this first year as merely the beginning, with vast potential for AKPS to grow into an efficient, integrity-driven agency respected at the regional level. The brief visit took place amid a series of anniversary events for AKPS held at the Setia Perkasa Complex here, in line with KDN’s efforts to strengthen national border controls.
