The inaugural flight, UO716, touched down at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang on August 1, marking a key step in enhancing air connectivity between the two destinations. HK Express, a member of the Cathay Group, aims to capitalize on growing travel demand and fan-based tourism.

Tourism Malaysia welcomed the development, with Deputy Director General (Promotion II) Samuel Lee and senior officials from Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) on hand to greet the arriving passengers. The event highlighted the airline’s role in promoting cultural and entertainment exchanges.

Aboard the special chartered flight, organized by Wing On Travel, were HK Express representative Rosita Tsang, along with popular TVB celebrities Tam Fai Chi and Che Yuen Yuen. The journey brought fans together for a blend of travel and entertainment, underscoring the rising popularity of themed tourism experiences.

Details on the flight schedule were not immediately available, but the route is expected to operate regularly to support increased visitor flows.

HK Express’s entry into the Kuala Lumpur market comes amid a broader recovery in regional aviation, with low-cost carriers playing a pivotal role in making travel more accessible. Tourism Malaysia views the service as a boost to bilateral ties, potentially drawing more Hong Kong visitors to explore Malaysia’s attractions.
