MALAYSIA, KUALA LUMPUR, June 13, 2025 – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has acknowledged and welcomed the High Court’s ruling in the case involving Yusoff Rawther, expressing respect for public reactions and views that underscore the nation’s commitment to upholding justice and human rights within the criminal justice system.
In a statement issued by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, PDRM said it is awaiting the full judgment of the trial to identify any gaps or weaknesses in the investigation process. The force is prepared to conduct internal evaluations and review its Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for investigations to drive improvements.
PDRM emphasized that every police report, including those involving high-profile suspects like Yusoff Rawther, is investigated fairly and without prejudice. Decisions on prosecution are made in accordance with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution, as determined by the Attorney General’s Chambers.
Regarding the police report lodged by Yusoff Rawther on September 12, 2024, PDRM clarified that two investigation papers were opened related to drug-related findings and a pistol. The force stated that there was no need to record a statement from the Prime Minister, as sufficient action was taken when Yusoff Rawther’s initial complaint was filed.
PDRM submitted recommendations for prosecution in both cases to the Attorney General’s Chambers, asserting that the evidence available at the time was sufficient to charge Yusoff Rawther without requiring statements from additional parties.
The statement also highlighted PDRM’s proactive approach to court rulings that do not favor the police, noting that the force remains committed to improving the quality of investigations and optimizing prosecution efforts, as demonstrated in past cases.
