‘The Solitary Gourmet’ will be showing at selected GSC locations from 10 September to 19 October 2025 respectively
Kuala Lumpur, 26 August 2025 – The magic of Japanese cinema returns this year as GSC International Screens, in collaboration with The Japan Foundation, proudly presents the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) 2025 – set to be bigger, bolder, and brighter than ever. Running from 10 September to 19 October 2025 at selected GSC cinemas nationwide, the festival continues GSC International Screens’ mission of celebrating cultural diversity and fostering global connections through film, offering Malaysian audiences a chance to immerse themselves in Japan’s rich storytelling traditions and cinematic brilliance.
As part of the specially curated lineup, GSC International Screens is proud to present The Solitary Gourmet, a film that captures the heart of everyday Japan through food and culture. The title resonates with audiences by showing how simple meals can unfold into extraordinary journeys, a reflection of life’s quiet yet powerful stories. Alongside The Solitary Gourmet, JFF 2025 will feature an exciting range of films that showcase the depth, artistry, and diversity of Japanese cinema, uniting audiences through stories that transcend borders.
Small Bowl, Big Adventures with The Solitary Gourmet
The adventures of a travelling salesman, Gorō Inogashira, who travels Japan, where he visits various restaurants and street booths to sample the local cuisine. Ever eager to try something new, this foodie’s curiosity sometimes lands him in unexpected trouble. In this movie, we will see him travelling internationally for business and his search to delight his palate. Tasked with the seemingly impossible challenge of uncovering the secret ingredients of a mysterious soup no one has ever heard of, his investigation leads him on a flavour-filled adventure to not only discover its recipe but also persuade the elusive chef to take up the ladle once more.
A must-see film – The Solitary Gourmet will be screening at selected GSC locations from 10 September onwards. The Solitary Gourmet will be sold at prevailing ticket prices and tickets for JFF 2025 are priced at just RM10.00.
