KOTA BELUD, SABAH, MALAYSIA January 12, 2026 – Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Sabah, Datuk Ewon Benedick, today officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Taginambur–Kamburaon Road Upgrade Project in Kadamaian.
Here are scenes from similar groundbreaking ceremonies, symbolizing the start of major infrastructure developments:
The project, valued at RM21.476 million, includes asphalt paving of a 2.55-kilometer stretch of road and the construction of a two-way concrete bridge. Scheduled for full completion by November 2027, the initiative aims to significantly improve connectivity in the rural area.
Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is also the Kadamaian State Assemblyman (ADUN), highlighted the project’s importance during a press interaction following the ceremony.
“I am confident that upon completion, this road will benefit thousands of residents, especially parents sending their children to SMK Narinang and SK Taginambur. It will also provide greater comfort to daily users, including tourists visiting tourism enterprises along the route, while supporting village economic activities,” he said.
He emphasized that paved road infrastructure remains a top priority in his role as Kadamaian’s representative, describing it as a key driver of local economic growth.
In addition to the Taginambur–Kamburaon project, several other major road paving initiatives are actively underway in Kadamaian, including roads in Sayap, Tengkurus, and Podos, along with the construction of two key concrete bridges: Kaung Bridge and Malangkap Bridge.
Datuk Ewon expressed hope for more main rural road upgrade projects in the Kadamaian constituency this year, aligning with the Sabah Government’s commitment to delivering more comfortable and safer basic road access for the people.
He extended appreciation to the Federal Government through the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) for providing the allocation, as well as the Sabah Public Works Department (JKR) as the implementing agency and all involved parties.
Upon completion, the upgraded road will directly serve residents of Kampung Barob, Kg. Potomodun, Kg. Tiong Kamburaon, Kg. Tiong Tiong, and Kg. Gontung.
Meanwhile, Juhanis Tinggi, Chairman of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) for Kampung Tiong Kamburaon, expressed gratitude to the State Government and particularly the Kadamaian ADUN for their attention to basic infrastructure needs.
“As daily users of this road, we are truly thankful and grateful that our village road is finally being upgraded. This is what we’ve been waiting for,” he said.
Although the upgrade does not fully extend to his village, Juhanis noted that it will still provide substantial help, especially for transporting children to SMK Narinang and SK Taginambur. He recounted previous difficulties faced by villagers due to the damaged road conditions.

He urged the government to continue extending road improvements to Kampung Tiong Manggis, Kampung Tiong Kamburaon, and Kampung Tambailik.
This route serves as an important alternative pathway for residents heading to Tuaran, particularly Tenghilan, which is closer than traveling via Kota Belud.
The road connects seven villages, all inhabited primarily by farmers. The improvements will ease daily tasks such as transporting agricultural produce, purchasing supplies, seeking medical treatment, and traveling to other destinations.
