PETRA JAYA, August 17, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof delivered a keynote address at the MADANI Executive Discourse Programme held at the Institut Aminuddin Baki (IAB) Main Hall in Kuching today, moderated by Dr. Aswandi Laman, Head of the Leadership, Language, and Communication Department at IAB Sarawak Branch.

Speaking to an audience of education leaders, principals, headmasters, district education officers from Kuching, Padawan, and Samarahan, as well as students from Kuching Matriculation College and IPGM Batu Lintang, Fadillah elaborated on three key themes: embedding the MADANI vision within Sarawak’s unique context and MA63, empowering Sarawak’s education through autonomy and human capital development, and advancing sustainable development through energy and water transformation.
Fadillah emphasized that the Malaysia MADANI framework aligns closely with Sarawak’s long-standing principles of regional justice, people-centric governance, and development tailored to local needs rather than political motives. He highlighted Sarawak’s strength in managing diversity as an asset, not a liability, noting that MADANI pillars such as respect and trust resonate with the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), which recognizes rights, regional justice, and power-sharing.
“MA63 is not a barrier but a unique foundation for building a fairer Malaysia,” he said, citing the technical meetings he chairs and the MA63 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63), co-chaired by Prime Minister YAB and the Premiers of Sarawak and Sabah, as proof of the government’s commitment.
Fadillah also showcased Sarawak’s leadership in clean energy, with over 70% of its electricity generated from renewable sources. He underscored the state’s pioneering role in the regional hydrogen economy, including hydrogen export projects to Japan and the development of a hydrogen production plant in Kuching.
Addressing educators, he urged them to instill knowledge, values, and resilience in Sarawak’s youth to produce globally competitive individuals with strong identities, positioning Sarawak as a key contributor to a prosperous Malaysia MADANI.
The programme underscored Sarawak’s commitment to sustainable development, education empowerment, and the realization of MA63’s principles for a more equitable Malaysia.
