DUBAI, UAE March 2, 2026 — Dubai Police has issued an urgent public alert against fraudsters who are exploiting the current security situation in the UAE by impersonating employees of a supposed “Dubai Crisis Management” department and claiming links to the police force.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) late on March 1, Dubai Police revealed that scammers are attempting to trick residents and visitors into handing over highly sensitive personal data, including UAE Pass credentials and Emirates ID details. The force warned that sharing such information could allow criminals to perform SIM-swap attacks and gain unauthorised access to victims’ bank accounts through mobile banking applications.
“Dubai Police affirm that they do not request confidential information or verification codes via telephone calls or text messages under any circumstances,” the statement emphasised.
The warning comes just hours after the UAE’s National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Ministry of Interior issued emergency mobile alerts instructing residents to seek immediate shelter due to missile threats linked to escalating regional conflict. Reports of explosions, smoke over Dubai Port, and incidents near landmarks such as Palm Jumeirah have heightened public anxiety across the emirate.
Dubai Police urged the public to remain vigilant and:
– Never share personal, banking, or digital identity information with any unverified caller or sender.
– Verify all communications through official government channels only.
– Immediately report suspected fraud by calling 901 or submitting details via the eCrime platform.
The force stressed that legitimate Dubai Police and government authorities will never ask citizens to disclose passwords, OTPs, or Emirates ID data over the phone or via SMS.
Residents and expatriates have been advised to stay calm, follow official updates from NCEMA and Dubai Police channels, and continue normal activities while exercising heightened caution during this period of regional uncertainty.
This latest scam alert forms part of Dubai Police’s ongoing efforts to combat cyber-enabled fraud, which has seen a spike during times of public concern.
