MALACCA, MALAYSIA January 24, 2026 – Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi participated in a motorcycle convoy through Melaka on Saturday, emphasizing community outreach and support for local residents, orphans, and young talents. The event, dubbed “Lawatan Santuni Rakyat, Semai Kasih ke Melaka” (People’s Courtesy Visit, Sowing Love to Melaka), allowed Zahid to connect directly with the public during a series of stops.
According to Zahid’s post on X (formerly Twitter), the convoy was joined by Melaka state executive council members and state assembly representatives. The journey, though brief, provided meaningful opportunities for interaction with locals. It commenced at Pondok Darul Muttaqin in Paya Rumput, proceeded to the Kompleks Anak Yatim Fatimah Al-Zaharah (KAYFAZ) in Bukit Katil, and concluded at Masjid Al Falihin in Alai.
During the visits, Zahid shared lunch with orphans and tahfiz students (those memorizing the Quran), engaged in friendly conversations, and performed the Zohor prayer congregationally with community members. Photos shared in the post depict a vibrant convoy of motorcyclists waving Malaysian flags along tree-lined roads, Zahid mingling with young boys in traditional white attire over a communal meal under blue canopies, a large group photo inside a mosque hall, and locals raising hands in greeting beside parked motorcycles.
A highlight of the day was Zahid’s meeting with Nadaratuliyana binti Ab Malek, a standout graduate from GIATMARA’s Fashion Technology program and an icon from Telok Mas in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) field. Nadaratuliyana has achieved notable success, securing silver medals at WorldSkills Malaysia in 2023 and 2024, followed by gold medals at WorldSkills ASEAN in Manila 2025 and WorldSkills Asia in Taipei 2025. She is set to represent Malaysia at the upcoming WorldSkills competition in Shanghai in September 2026.
In his post, Zahid expressed pride in her accomplishments, stating, “Kejayaan beliau meraih Pingat Perak WorldSkills Malaysia 2023 dan 2024, diikuti Pingat Emas WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 serta WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025 amat membanggakan.” He called for collective prayers for her continued success, noting she serves as an inspiration for Malaysian youth.
Zahid, who also serves as Minister of Rural and Regional Development, UMNO President, and Barisan Nasional Chairman, thanked all participants and expressed hope for future engagements. The event underscores ongoing efforts by Malaysian leaders to foster grassroots connections and promote educational achievements.
