KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA February 16, 2026 – Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, conducted an official working visit today to assess the preparedness and operational capabilities of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) K9 Unit (Canine Detection Unit), under the Technical Assistance Division (D6) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Bukit Aman.
The visit took place at the Malaysian Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) in Kuala Lumpur, where Tan Sri Ayob Khan observed a tactical demonstration featuring six key training components: Advance Obedience, Tactical Obedience, Tactical Window Entry & Neutralization, Hazardous Obstacle Interception, Transition Phase Control, and Urban Obstacle Breach.
These exercises were designed to evaluate the discipline, teamwork, and efficiency between handlers and detection dogs in executing high-risk detection operations and specialized interventions.
Concluding the inspection, the Deputy Inspector-General, accompanied by CID Director CP Dato’ M. Kumar S. Muthuvelu, interacted cordially with the K9 handlers and inspected the kennel facilities and training infrastructure. The review ensured that the welfare, health, and logistical needs of the K9 Unit receive appropriate ongoing attention.
Also present during the visit were Deputy Director (Intelligence/Operations) of CID Bukit Aman, DCP Datuk Mohd Sukri Kaman; Deputy Director (Investigations/Legal) of CID Bukit Aman, DCP Datuk Mohd Fazley Ab Rahman; Commandant of PULAPOL Kuala Lumpur, SAC Datuk Mohd Nor Yhazid Idris; and Assistant Director (Head) of D6 CID Bukit Aman, SAC Mohamed Rafiq Mohamed Mustafa.
The K9 Unit plays a vital role in supporting PDRM operations, including crime scene searches, explosive and narcotic detection, and high-risk tactical responses, underscoring the importance of maintaining peak readiness and animal welfare standards.
