Datuk Ruji Urges Cross-Party Cooperation for Constituency Development

MEROTAI,  SABAH,  MALAYSIA November 20.  2025  – Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Merotai state seat, Datuk Ruji Ubi, has stressed that the development of Merotai must take priority over personal political interests, while calling for change after “two difficult terms”.

In a social media post today, the former Secretary-General of the Ministry of Home Affairs shared photos and videos of a breakfast session with three influential local figures in Merotai: Community Leader Datuk Seri Saifuddin, Tan Sri Liew, and Cikgu Jai.

“These three are the pillars of strength who have always stood by my side — offering advice, support, and tolerance for the progress of Merotai. I truly appreciate it,” wrote Datuk Ruji.

During a brief speech at the event, Tan Sri Liew was quoted as saying: “If I followed my emotions, I would choose to fight. But when I think about what is best for the work, I choose cooperation.”

Datuk Ruji further emphasised that cooperation between PH and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is not something new, but that he intends to take Merotai to a higher level by leveraging his experience and connections — particularly in resolving urgent issues such as identity cards (IC) and documentation for village children.

“The issue of ICs and documentation for our village children is an urgent need that can only be resolved by a leader who has the channels, understanding, and capability to act,” he asserted.

While acknowledging the efforts of the previous assemblyman, Datuk Ruji stressed: “What matters most is that Merotai’s development must move forward. We have already gone through two difficult terms. It is time for us to choose change.”

“We want development that can truly be felt by our own villages,” added Datuk Ruji.
