KUALA LUMPUR. Malaysia, 17 July 2025 – His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, on the advice of the Prime Minister and after consultation with the Conference of Rulers, has approved the appointment of three senior judges to key judicial positions in Malaysia’s superior courts, effective 28 July 2025.

According to a statement from the Office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court, YA Dato’ Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Federal Court, YA Dato’ Abu Bakar bin Jais as President of the Court of Appeal, and YA Dato’ Hajah Azizah binti Haji Nawawi as Chief Judge of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak, succeeding the retiring Chief Judge.
The appointments, made pursuant to Clause (1) of Article 122B of the Federal Constitution, will be formalized during a ceremony at Istana Negara on 28 July 2025. The event will include the presentation of letters of appointment and the swearing-in and loyalty oath before His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
