DAPSY Demands Swift Release of Flotilla Activists Detained by Israel

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA Oct 2, 2025 – The Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (DAPSY) has issued a fiery call for the immediate liberation of Malaysian and international activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla, slamming Israel’s detention of the humanitarian crew as an “inhumane” assault on global solidarity.

In a strongly worded media statement dated October 2, 2025, DAPSY International Affairs Secretary Steven Tiw — also the assemblyman for Tronoh — denounced the Israeli regime’s interception of the vessel, which was en route to deliver vital daily supplies to Gaza’s beleaguered residents amid a years-long blockade. “There is no justification or valid reason to obstruct this flotilla,” Tiw declared, emphasizing that the mission carried no weapons and was purely aimed at alleviating the suffering of Palestinians under siege.

The flotilla’s seizure has ignited outrage across activist circles, echoing broader international fury over Israel’s naval blockade and its impact on aid deliveries. Tiw’s statement comes as similar diplomatic rifts widen, with countries like Colombia recently expelling Israeli envoys in protest over the same incident.

DAPSY didn’t hold back in its condemnation, labeling the actions a deliberate bid to “hinder humanitarian efforts and suppress global solidarity with the Palestinian people’s plight.” The group reaffirmed its unwavering support for the worldwide push to champion human rights and unity in the face of oppression.

Turning to the home front, Tiw pressed the Malaysian government to pull out all stops — diplomatic channels and security protocols alike — to ensure the well-being of any Malaysian nationals entangled in the mission. “We urge the Malaysian government to take all necessary diplomatic and security measures to safeguard the welfare and safety of Malaysian citizens involved,” he wrote.

In a rallying cry to the nation, DAPSY exhorted Malaysians to lock arms in the fight for their compatriots’ freedom. “We call upon all Malaysians to stand united and continue to fight for the release and safety of our fellow citizens engaged in this humanitarian effort,” Tiw urged. “The spirit of solidarity and humanity must not be silenced by any form of oppression.”
