KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA March 5, 2026 – The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) held its monthly meeting on the evening of 4 March 2026 and issued a media statement outlining the party’s firm positions on several institutional reform and anti-corruption issues.
In a statement signed by DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the party expressed serious concern over allegations reported by a foreign media outlet (understood to refer to Bloomberg) regarding the existence of a “corporate mafia” that allegedly uses the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as a tool to advance personal interests. These allegations, which have been circulating since February 2026, include claims that certain senior MACC officers are involved in a corporate network employing raids and intimidation to force the sale of shares or business interests.
The DAP CEC urged the government to address this issue effectively by establishing a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations. The commission should also propose measures to prevent abuse of power within the anti-corruption institution, in order to safeguard the credibility and integrity of the MACC.
Additionally, DAP expressed deep disappointment over the failure of the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) to pass the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2026, which sought to limit the Prime Minister’s tenure to a maximum of 10 years (whether consecutive or non-consecutive). The bill recently failed to secure the required two-thirds majority in the Dewan Rakyat (around 2–3 March 2026), receiving only limited support. The party called on the government to re-table the bill in the upcoming parliamentary sitting to realise this important reform agenda.
DAP also welcomed the government’s decision to refer the Constitution (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2026 – which aims to separate the roles of Attorney General and Public Prosecutor – to the Special Select Committee of Parliament. The party pledged to contribute to improving accountability and transparency in the appointment process for these positions through its representatives on the committee: Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh and Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan.
DAP reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting institutional reform within the Unity Government, maintaining zero tolerance for any form of abuse of power, and fully endorsing the agenda to combat corruption.
The statement was issued on 5 March 2026 amid ongoing public and political discussions regarding the integrity of anti-corruption institutions and governance reform in Malaysia.
