KOTA KINABALU, SABAH, MALAYSIA March 30, 2026 – Inspector-General of Police (IGP), IG Datuk Seri Panglima Hj. Mohd Khalid Hj. Ismail, was today conferred Sabah’s highest state award when he received the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Kinabalu Pangkat Pertama, Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (S.P.D.K.), which carries the title “Datuk Seri Panglima”.
The award was bestowed by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr.) Musa Hj. Aman, during the Investiture Ceremony of State Honours, Stars and Medals at the Balai Istiadat, Istana Seri Kinabalu.
Also receiving the same S.P.D.K. honour alongside the IGP was the Chief Justice of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Utama Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, who now carries the title “Datuk Seri Panglima”. The ceremony was held in conjunction with the celebration of the 75th Official Birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah.
Accompanying the Head of State at the event was Toh Puan Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hjh. Faridah Hj. Tussin.
During the same investiture, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri also conferred the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Kinabalu Pangkat Kedua, Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (P.G.D.K.) on 32 recipients. Among them were the Secretary of the Royal Malaysia Police, DCP Datuk Abdul Rahman Kassim, and the Commander of the General Operations Force (PGA) Sabah Brigade, SAC Datuk Nor Omar Sappi, who now hold the title “Datuk”.
Sabah Police Commissioner, CP Datuk Jauteh Dikun, was among six recipients appointed as Justice of the Peace (Jaksa Pendamai).
In addition, 16 individuals received the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (A.S.D.K.), 13 received the Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (A.D.K.), eight received the Bintang Setia Kinabalu (B.S.K.) — including five senior and junior police officers from the Sabah Contingent Police Headquarters — while eight others received the Bintang Kinabalu (B.K.) and two received the Perkhidmatan Terpuji award.
Also present at the ceremony were Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hj. Hajiji Hj. Noor, Speaker of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly Datuk Seri Panglima Kadzim Hj. M. Yahya, Chairman of the Royal Malaysia Police Family Association (PERKEP) Malaysia Datin Seri Panglima Datuk (Dr.) Hjh. Munirah Che Rose, Chairman of PERKEP Sabah Contingent Datin Nurhayatie Farhana Abdullah, Deputy Chief Ministers of Sabah, Federal and State Ministers, as well as the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Datuk Hjh. Azizah Hj. Nawawi.
In the evening, the Inspector-General of Police and his wife attended the State Banquet held at the Dewan Bankuasi, Sabah State Legislative Assembly Complex, in conjunction with the 75th Official Birthday celebration of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah. The banquet showcased the unique traditional values and identity of Sabah, the Land Below the Wind.
The conferment of these awards is in recognition of the recipients’ outstanding contributions and dedicated service, particularly in upholding national and state security and sovereignty.
