Cabinet Approves Transfer of Natural Resources and Environment Portfolio

PUTRAJAYA. Malaysia, July 11, 2925 – Malaysian Cabinet has unanimously agreed to reassign the responsibilities of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, effective immediately.

The decision was announced following a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, as confirmed in a media statement by Tan Sri Shamsul Azri bin Abu Bakar, Secretary to the Cabinet.

Under the new arrangement, Datuk Seri Johari bin Abdul Ghani, the Minister of Plantation and Commodities, will take over the duties and functions of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, along with the associated powers and privileges.

The move reflects a strategic realignment within the government, aimed at enhancing coordination and efficiency in managing Malaysia’s natural resources and environmental policies.
