PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia. Sept 2025 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today that the reduction in RON95 petrol prices reflects the bold measures taken by the MADANI Government to strengthen national governance and financial stability.

Speaking at the Ministry of Finance’s monthly assembly, he emphasized that the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy program is designed to eliminate longstanding leakages, ensuring fair benefits for Malaysians.
The government’s policy prohibits foreign citizens with foreign-registered vehicles from purchasing RON95, while foreign workers and expatriates with locally registered vehicles can still access it at pump prices.
Anwar noted that the 300-liter monthly cap meets the needs of 99 percent of Malaysians. However, the government is open to considering appeals for special cases, such as riverboats, generators, or lawnmowers.
