KUALA LUMPUR, June 25, 2025 — The government must take decisive action to eradicate corruption, said Muhammad Faisal Abdul Aziz, Chairperson of the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (BERSIH), emphasizing the need for unwavering commitment to tackle graft.

Faisal highlighted the public’s high expectations for the government to deliver on promised reforms, including strengthening the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to ensure its independence and accountability.
He expressed concern over delays in prosecuting individuals implicated in corruption scandals in Sabah, warning that such inaction could deepen public frustration and erode trust in authorities.
Faisal also called for the swift separation of the Attorney General and Public Prosecutor roles and the urgent enactment of the Political Funding Bill, describing these measures as critical “game-changers” to combat corruption in the long term.
