ABU DHABI, Sept 30, 2025 – Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has expressed support for President Trump’s peace plan aimed at ending nearly two years of conflict in Gaza, which has resulted in significant civilian losses. Speaking from Abu Dhabi, Albanese highlighted Australia’s consistent advocacy for a ceasefire, the return of hostages, and the flow of aid to Gaza.

Albanese welcomed the opportunity to discuss the plan with other leaders over the past week, praising its commitment to denying Hamas a role in Gaza’s future governance. He urged Hamas to agree to the plan, lay down arms, and release all remaining hostages. The plan, which emphasizes Palestinian self-determination and statehood, sees the Palestinian Authority regaining effective control of Gaza, rejecting annexation or forced displacement of Palestinians.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the diplomatic efforts to incorporate views from Palestinian, Arab, and other key partners, noting statements of support from the Palestinian Authority. Australia is urging all parties to engage seriously with the plan and work toward its swift implementation.
Together with its partners, Australia remains committed to supporting efforts to end the war and advance a just, sustainable two-state solution.
