KUALA LUMPUR, June 8, 2025 – Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, has called out the MCA President for confusion regarding references to the Supply Control (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (PPKB 2021) and the Supply Control (Amendment) Act 2022 (Act A1652).

In a statement today, Armizan clarified that he explicitly referred to the PPKB (Amendment) 2021 during a press conference on June 5, 2025, accompanied by a distributed media statement.
However, the MCA President was said to have referenced Act A1652, which differs from the legislation in question.
“I mentioned A, he referred to Z,” Armizan remarked, stressing that this mix-up led to the MCA President’s failure to understand the discussed legal provisions.
He also praised the MCA President’s current awareness as a ‘people’s spokesperson’ in his present ‘position,’ but sarcastically noted that if such zeal had emerged when the latter was a minister in 2021, MCA might have objected to the PPKB (Amendment) 2021, which was enacted and gazetted on October 15, 2021.
Armizan, acknowledging his status as a first-term parliamentarian compared to the MCA President’s extensive experience, underscored his commitment to citing valid legal sources and avoiding public confusion.
He refuted the MCA President’s accusation of referencing non-existent legislation, urging that the public not be misled by irresponsible statements.
“I don’t mind being called a liar, but don’t confuse the public,” he asserted.
