KOTA KINABALU, SABAH, MALAYSIA January 8, 2025 – Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, who is also the Member of Parliament for Papar, has demanded detailed explanations and immediate, sustained intervention from all relevant agencies to address the ongoing water supply disruption in Kinarut, Papar.
He made the call following a special meeting he chaired at the Sabah State Government Secretary’s Office, attended by the State Secretary, Papar-area State Assemblymen (ADUNs), and representatives from related agencies and departments.
The meeting focused on finalising alternative solutions that must be implemented without delay to tackle the water supply issue, which remains unresolved.
“I demand detailed explanations and call for immediate and ongoing intervention from all relevant agencies. During this period, I expect full commitment and accountability from all parties involved, with the well-being of the people as the top priority,” Armizan stressed in his statement.
He emphasised that while awaiting the long-term solution — the completion of Phase 2 of the Kogopan Treatment Plant Upgrade Project — various interim measures are already in place and will continue.
These include:
– Scheduled water deliveries to static tanks
– Tubewell projects at suitable locations
– Deployment of additional mobile water tanks in affected areas
Armizan expressed hope that strong cooperation among all parties would help alleviate the difficulties faced by residents during this disruption.
The water supply problem in Papar has been a persistent concern, and both the state and federal governments are expected to closely monitor progress to ensure a comprehensive resolution is achieved as soon as possible.
