PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA January 28, 2026 – Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, delivered a stern warning and strong rebuke to the nation’s enforcement agencies during an address to enforcement personnel. In his speech, he emphasized the urgent need to address weaknesses and loopholes that undermine the integrity of law enforcement.
Anwar stressed that any individual who finds the responsibility too burdensome, or who faces external temptations and pressures that compromise their ability to act decisively and principledly, should step aside honestly and allow others who are more prepared, courageous, and committed to integrity to take on the role.
He reminded the audience that holding such positions is not a decoration or privilege, but a amanah (sacred trust) that demands the courage to make correct decisions—even if unpopular or risky.
The Prime Minister firmly stated that smuggling, corruption, and illicit activities must never be normalized, especially if they occur with leniency or protection from those entrusted to uphold the law. Such actions constitute a betrayal of the nation and its people.
He declared that there is no longer any room for complacency, cheap compromises, or tolerance of any form of betrayal of trust. Decisive action must be taken without favoritism or selective enforcement.
Anwar underscored that the people demand real reforms, not empty rhetoric. Therefore, every enforcement agency must demonstrate genuine change through concrete actions, discipline, transparency, and unified teamwork to restore the dignity of institutions, the nation, and the country.
This message comes amid the government’s continued push for stronger governance, anti-corruption efforts, and institutional reforms under the MADANI administration.
