Anwar: Malaysia MADANI records major progress in three years, hardcore poverty nearly eradicated

PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA December 7, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today officiated the closing of the “Rancakkan MADANI Bersama Malaysiaku” programme at Dataran Putrajaya, attended by hundreds of thousands of people from across the country.

In his speech, he said the three-year journey of the MADANI Unity Government has delivered political stability that has enabled bold policies and institutional reforms to be implemented in a far more orderly manner.

“All these achievements stand on the support of the multi-ethnic people as well as the unwavering commitment of civil servants and leaders who work tirelessly to raise the dignity of the nation,” said Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister.

Among the key achievements highlighted:

– The national economy has regained strength with one of the highest growth rates in the region
– The ringgit has strengthened
– Total trade volume exceeded RM2 trillion
– Hardcore poverty is almost eliminated, remaining at only 0.09 per cent and expected to be fully resolved in early 2026

The government has also strengthened the social protection safety net through:

– The largest-ever salary increase for civil servants in history
– STR and SARA cash aid totalling RM15 billion annually
– Various other measures to ease the people’s burdens

In Sabah and Sarawak, basic infrastructure issues such as water supply, electricity and roads are now monitored monthly through Federal–State coordination. The Pan Borneo Highway project is also progressing on schedule as promised.

Institutional reforms have been accelerated with the implementation of the Public Finance and Fiscal Responsibility Act 2023, parliamentary reforms, the Ombudsman Bill, and the Government Service Efficiency Commitment Act 2025.

On the international stage, Malaysia continues to speak firmly in demanding justice for the Palestinian people while opening new markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

However, Anwar also touched on certain groups who, in the open democratic space, choose to insult and spread abusive language.

“Although there are those who lack arguments and instead resort to insults and vulgarities, weakening nation-building efforts and poisoning public morals, I remain confident that as long as we hold firm to the same determination, Malaysia will continue to stride boldly toward becoming a prosperous nation that is respected and admired worldwide,” he stressed.

The “Rancakkan MADANI Bersama Malaysiaku” programme, held throughout this weekend, serves as a benchmark of the MADANI Government’s three-year success and as a platform for the people to collectively strengthen the spirit of unity and national development.
