KENYIR, TERENGGANU, Malaysia, July 12, 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim kicked off his official visit to Terengganu today by launching a hybrid floating solar and green hydrogen hub project at the Sultan Mahmud Power Station in Kenyir.

The large-scale initiative, a strategic collaboration between Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Petronas, and Terengganu Inc., aims to position Peninsular Malaysia as a green hydrogen hub, aligning with the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR). It is also a key project under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
Set for completion in 2029, the project is expected to produce 2.5 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2050, supporting the goals outlined in the NETR.
Anwar commended the Terengganu state government’s commitment to the project, highlighting the MADANI government’s efforts to advance public welfare beyond political divides. He expressed confidence that the initiative would drive long-term development, elevate Malaysia’s green technology ecosystem, and solidify the country’s position as a regional leader in green hydrogen.
