PENANG, MALAYSIA Nov 8 2025 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Penang yesterday evening to attend a series of official events and programmes scheduled for today.
According to a brief statement shared by him on social media platforms, Anwar immediately headed to the family home in Cherok Tokun upon arrival late in the evening, to meet his brother, sister, and closest family members who still reside in the heritage house.
“Amid the gaps in these old walls, the voices and whispers of time from the past remain fresh. Yet, it stands intact, preserving a thousand stories of joy and sorrow, sadness and happiness, while serving as an indelible and unforgettable landmark of nostalgia,” wrote Anwar in a statement dated 7 November 2025.
Anwar’s arrival in his birthplace has drawn attention from local residents, with many anticipating interactions with him during today’s events. No further details on the official agenda have been discussed, but it is expected to involve issues of state development and economy.
