KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA February 23, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today that the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) achieved realized investments totaling RM78.95 billion in 2025, resulting in the creation of over 23,000 new job opportunities. The milestone was revealed during the 35th meeting of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority, which the Prime Minister chaired earlier this morning.
In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Anwar emphasized NCER’s role in fostering economic development in Malaysia’s northern states. He noted that the region also trained 4,000 local talents last year through programs managed by the NCER Technology Innovation Center (NTIC), ensuring they align with the demands of investors and key industries.
The meeting focused on strategic planning for 2026 and beyond, aiming to accelerate high-quality investments in the northern corridor. Discussions highlighted potential projects linked to the Kedah Rubber City (KRC) and the Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) in Perlis. Additionally, initiatives to expand the investment ecosystem along the Malaysia-Thailand border were reviewed, alongside studies to boost tourism competitiveness on Langkawi Island.
Anwar’s administration continues to prioritize regional economic corridors under the Malaysia Madani framework, promoting inclusive growth and innovation. The NCER, encompassing Kedah, Penang, Perak, and Perlis, has been instrumental in driving industrial and technological advancements.
