KOTA BHARU, KELANTAN, August 9 2025 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered a comprehensive, open, and transparent investigation into the death of Zara Qairina in Sabah, emphasizing that no one—regardless of status—will be spared if found involved.

Speaking at the Madani Programme in Kelantan, Anwar stressed that every death must be thoroughly examined without any attempts to shield parties, in the interest of justice. “Whether it’s a prominent figure or an ordinary person, there will be no compromises,” he asserted.
However, the Prime Minister cautioned against exploiting the tragedy for political gain, urging restraint from building “palaces on graves.” He described using the family’s grief to attack opponents or advance political agendas as inhumane, insisting that lost lives should not be manipulated as tools.
In line with suspicions and legal protocols, the Attorney General has directed the exhumation of the body for a post-mortem examination. Anwar noted this step is crucial to restore public confidence that the truth is not being concealed.
Reiterating his stance, Anwar declared, “This is the Madani Government. No one, including VIPs, will be protected if guilty. A murderer remains a murderer, and the law must be upheld to value every life and ensure justice.”
The directive comes amid public outcry over the case, with Anwar’s remarks aimed at reinforcing the government’s commitment to accountability under the #MalaysiaMADANI banner.
