PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia, 6 August 2025* – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a phone call from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who commended Malaysia’s steadfast position on the Gaza issue and urged the nation to continue leading diplomatic efforts to counter the ongoing atrocities and genocide in Palestine.

Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s unwavering commitment, emphasizing that the country’s stance is not limited to vocal statements on international platforms but extends to fostering collaboration with regional and global leaders, including the presidents of Indonesia, Türkiye, Brazil, and South Africa. “The world cannot remain silent when these acts of cruelty have crossed the boundaries of humanity,” he stated.
The leaders also discussed Malaysia-Iran bilateral relations, expressing a shared commitment to deepening their longstanding friendship, particularly in areas that bring mutual benefits to the people of both nations.
President Pezeshkian extended an official invitation for Anwar to visit Tehran in the near future. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for Iran’s willingness to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
