AKPS Investigates Enforcement Officer for Alleged “Setting Counter” Activities

SEPANG, Malaysia, 24 July 2025 – The Malaysian Border Control and Security Agency (AKPS) has detained an enforcement officer at Terminal 1, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for suspected involvement in “setting counter” activities. The arrest was made following an investigation that uncovered RM8,391.45 in cash, communication devices, and several passport numbers found in the officer’s possession.

The investigation, initiated at 9:20 am by the AKPS Surveillance and Integrity Units, utilized CCTV footage to confirm the officer’s suspicious behavior at the counter.

Initial findings revealed the officer allegedly engaged in activities involving the manipulation of four-digit passport number sequences, raising concerns about potential external involvement.

The officer has been handed over to the KLIA AKPS Integrity Unit and will be referred to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) Selangor unit for further investigation.

AKPS views breaches of integrity, especially those compromising national security, with utmost seriousness and will take firm action against any involved personnel.
