KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, July 21, 2025 — The implementation of MyDigital ID has achieved remarkable progress, with 2.8 million Malaysians registered as of the second quarter of 2025, up from 1.8 million in the first quarter, according to Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories).

Speaking in response to a question from the Beluran MP in the Dewan Rakyat today, Dr. Zaliha highlighted the expansion of MyDigital ID’s “use cases,” enabling secure access to platforms such as MyJPJ, PADU, MySejahtera, and MyGov. To date, 82 applications, spanning government and non-government systems, are either operational, in development, or undergoing implementation.
The platform employs advanced technologies, including biometrics, e-KYC, and cryptography, to ensure secure and legitimate identity verification. Personal data is not stored but used solely for verification purposes and deleted thereafter, Dr. Zaliha emphasized.
In a significant development, six major banks have completed sandbox testing with Bank Negara Malaysia, while verification for prepaid SIM card owners is set to commence in the third quarter of 2025, in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and telecommunications companies.
For enhanced security, MyDigital ID digital certificates are valid for one year, aligning with international standards set by NIST and regulatory guidance from Bank Negara Malaysia. This ensures periodic re-verification of identities.
Dr. Zaliha underscored that MyDigital ID’s rollout will continue to deliver substantial benefits to citizens, government, private sectors, and investors, reinforcing the MADANI Government’s commitment to driving Malaysia’s digital economy and strengthening national security infrastructure.
