LOS ANGELES, October 26, 2026 – Television superproducer Greg Berlanti has been named the recipient of the Paley Center for Media’s Paley Honors Award, the organisation’s highest recognition.
Berlanti will be presented with the award at the 2026 Paley Honors Fall Gala, to be held on Thursday, December 3, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Variety reported on Monday. The news was shared on X by the entertainment publication.
The Paley Honors Award is given to someone who has made “landmark contributions” and had an “enduring impact to the media industry”. Additional honourees for this year’s gala will be announced later.
“A visionary creative force”
“For more than 30 years, Greg Berlanti has captivated audiences with acclaimed storytelling that has entertained, inspired, and brought enormous joy to people around the world,” said Maureen J. Reidy, president and chief executive of the Paley Center for Media, in a statement.
“A visionary creative force, Greg has helped shape the television landscape with his enthralling series and unforgettable characters that have resonated with generations of viewers. In recognition of his extraordinary career and enduring impact on the entertainment industry, we are privileged to present him with our highest recognition, The Paley Honors Award,” she added.
Last year’s honourees included country music superstar and actress Reba McEntire, star of “Happy’s Place”; television executive producer Bill Lawrence, the creator behind “Scrubs” and “Shrinking”; and Ynon Kreiz, then chairman and chief executive of Mattel and now co-chief executive of Skydance.
A prolific television career
Berlanti first came to prominence as showrunner of the hit teen drama “Dawson’s Creek”. He has since been behind a long list of series, including “Everwood”, “Dirty Sexy Money”, “Eli Stone”, “Brothers and Sisters”, “Blindspot”, “You”, “Riverdale”, “All American” and “Brilliant Minds”.
He is also widely credited with building one of television’s most successful superhero universes, the so-called “Arrowverse”, with series including “Arrow”, “The Flash” and “Supergirl”.
His upcoming projects include the new series “How to Survive Without Me” and “Afterlife with Archie”.
Beyond television, Berlanti has also worked in film, directing the 2018 romantic comedy-drama “Love, Simon”.
A string of honours
The Paley award adds to a growing list of recent accolades. Berlanti has received an Emmy Governors Award, was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, and received the Producers Guild of America’s Norman Lear Achievement Award.
He also founded the Berlanti Family Foundation, which raises money for charities, nonprofit organisations and cancer research.
The Paley Center for Media, with locations in New York and Los Angeles, is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to exploring the cultural, creative and social significance of television, radio and emerging media.
