SHAH ALAM, Sept 5 2026 — Kayangan, a new cultural dining concept celebrating Malay heritage and the wider Nusantara, has officially opened at Aneka Walk, SA Sentral, with the debut of Hikayat Nusantara, a production by KRU Studios.
The experience, which premiered on Thursday, combines a traditional Malay buffet with a live cultural show inspired by wayang kulit. Organisers described it as an evening built around food, music, performing arts, silat and immersive digital staging, rather than a standalone dinner or concert.
Hikayat Nusantara traces the rise of the Malay kingdoms, seafarers who crossed the region’s ancient trade routes, the practice of silat, and the role of the tok dalang, before turning to the cultural diversity of present-day Malaysia. The production is presented on LED screens with surround sound and theatrical lighting.
The meal is served at The Kayangan Table, an authentic Malay buffet curated by Dato’ Chef Zam from traditional menus and family recipes.
“Food has always been one of the most beautiful ways to bring people together. Every recipe carries cherished memories, every flavour reflects our heritage,” he said.
Kayangan is positioned under the tagline “Created for Malaysians, Made for the World,” and is aimed at families, domestic and foreign visitors, tour groups, corporate clients and official guests. The venue at Aneka Walk is operated by KRU Entertainment and is set up as an alfresco dining space with full entertainment infrastructure.
The opening-month package is priced at RM89.90 for adults and RM59.90 for children. Seating, food preparation and performances are planned according to confirmed numbers, so advance reservations are required. Walk-ins will only be accepted if space is available.
