PUTRAJAYA July 8, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim met 22 young leaders from 12 countries participating in the AZM Global Leaders Kuala Lumpur Summit 2026 here this afternoon, sharing insights on navigating leadership challenges in multicultural settings.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Anwar expressed gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized that effective leadership in diverse cultural and background contexts must be anchored in wisdom, sound judgment, and patience.
“Leaders must also continue to learn and adapt to new approaches without abandoning important foundations such as trust, values, and morals,” he stated.
Anwar also offered prayers for the success of the initiative, specifically mentioning its founder, Muna AbuSulayman, and the selected young participants. He hoped they would be granted strength to build cross-border networks that serve mutual interests and future collaboration.
The meeting took place in a formal conference setting in Putrajaya, where Anwar addressed the group seated around a large table. A screen in the room displayed a welcome message for the “AZM Global Leaders Kuala Lumpur Summit 2026.”
The summit forms part of the Azm Global Leadership (AGL) Fellowship, a fully funded two-year program founded by Muna AbuSulayman. It targets exceptional young Muslim leaders aged 22–29, providing training, mentorship, and immersive summits to develop adaptive, values-driven leadership capable of addressing local, regional, and global challenges.
The first cohort of 22 fellows, drawn from 12 countries, is currently in Malaysia for the in-person component of the program.
Anwar’s remarks align with his broader Malaysia MADANI vision, which promotes civilized, ethical governance and inclusive development. The post carried the hashtags #MalaysiaMADANI #MADANIBekerja #YakinMADANI.
The encounter highlights Malaysia’s continued role in fostering international youth leadership networks, particularly among emerging voices from diverse Muslim-majority and multicultural backgrounds.
Photos from the meeting show a diverse group of young professionals in formal attire engaging with the Prime Minister in a high-level government conference room.
