KUALA LUMPUR, May 2, 2026 – Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi visited the Pertandingan Pidato Piala AZH (AZH Trophy Oratory Competition) organised by Pergerakan Puteri UMNO Malaysia today, praising the young participants for their impressive public speaking skills.
The event was held at the lobby of the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur as part of the second day of UMNO’s 80th anniversary celebrations.
In a post on X, Zahid, who is also UMNO President, wrote: “Memasuki hari kedua Sambutan Hari UMNO ke-80, saya sempat singgah ke pertandingan pidato yang sedang berlangsung di ruang legar WTC Kuala Lumpur. Hebat-hebat anak muda kita ni berpidato yaa.”
He added that he had the opportunity to present prizes to the winners and congratulated all participants on their efforts.
Zahid also extended his congratulations to Pergerakan Puteri UMNO Malaysia under the leadership of Datuk Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi for successfully organising the competition.
“Inisiatif seperti ini memberi ruang kepada generasi pelapis untuk menyerlahkan bakat dan membina keyakinan diri. Teruskan momentum ini. Kita perlukan lebih banyak ruang seperti ini untuk melatih suara-suara masa depan,” he said.
The competition forms part of ongoing efforts by the women’s youth wing of UMNO to nurture the next generation of leaders by building self-confidence and communication skills among young members.
The 80th anniversary celebrations of UMNO, founded in 1946, continue at WTC Kuala Lumpur under the theme #UMNO80Tahun #RumahBangsa #BersatuBersetiaBerkhidmat.
