LOS ANGELES April 28, 2026 — Voice actor Josh Gad is building major anticipation for Disney’s Frozen 3 while acknowledging the long wait fans still face.
In a red-carpet interview with Variety, Gad — who has voiced the beloved snowman Olaf since the original 2013 blockbuster — described the script for the upcoming sequel in glowing terms.
“It’s ambitious as hell. The dialogue is so good. It’s so funny… just incredible character development,” Gad said.
At the same time, the actor expressed sympathy for eager audiences, admitting he is “sad people have to wait over a year” to see the film.
Frozen 3 is currently scheduled for theatrical release on November 24, 2027 — more than eight years after Frozen 2 hit theaters in 2019 and nearly 14 years since the first film captivated global audiences.
Disney deliberately pushed back the release date to prioritize quality and avoid rushing the project, according to earlier statements from the studio and cast. Gad has repeatedly emphasized that the team wants to deliver a story worthy of the franchise’s legacy rather than producing it simply for commercial reasons.
The third installment will reunite the original voice cast, including Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa, and Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, alongside Gad as Olaf. Production is actively underway, with Gad confirming he has begun recording sessions.
Fans reacted quickly to Gad’s comments on social media, with many expressing excitement that the extra time is resulting in stronger writing and deeper character work.
The original Frozen won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and became a cultural phenomenon, spawning a billion-dollar franchise that includes merchandise, stage shows, and the hit short Frozen Fever. Frozen 2 broke multiple box-office records upon its release.
