SEREMBAN April 27, 2026 — In a major political development, the five Perikatan Nasional (PN) state assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan have announced their willingness to cooperate with the 14 Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen to guarantee the stability and continuity of the state administration.
The announcement was made via an official media statement issued today by the PN Negeri Sembilan state liaison body. It comes amid an escalating leadership crisis that has paralysed the state government under Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (PH-PKR).
The statement highlighted how the prolonged crisis has severely affected state governance, including the indefinite postponement of the State Legislative Assembly sitting.
“The crisis has become more serious when the 14 UMNO BN Negeri Sembilan assemblymen unanimously declared their loss of confidence in YAB Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan and withdrew support for the state government led by the Menteri Besar,” the statement read.

Placing the interests of the rakyat and the state above partisan politics, the five PN ADUNs declared their readiness to work with their BN counterparts.
“Therefore, the five Perikatan Nasional Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly members are ready to cooperate with the 14 UMNO BN Negeri Sembilan assemblymen to guarantee the stability of the State Government and the continuity of the state administration in order to develop Negeri Sembilan and ensure the well-being of the people of Negeri Sembilan,” it added.
A formal cooperation letter was formally handed over during a press event in Seremban and received by Negeri Sembilan UMNO Liaison Secretary and ADUN Palong, YB Datuk Mustapha Nagoor.
The move follows the 14 BN assemblymen’s earlier announcement withdrawing support for the Menteri Besar. The crisis is understood to stem from ongoing tensions involving state customs (adat) and constitutional matters linked to the traditional rulers.
Negeri Sembilan’s 36-seat Dewan Undangan Negeri is currently composed of PH (17 seats), BN (14 seats) and PN (5 seats). A BN-PN cooperation would command exactly 19 seats — enough for a simple majority — raising the possibility of a new state government alignment.
The development was first shared publicly on X by the UMNO-affiliated account @UMNONow , which posted the official statement, a photo of the letter handover, and video footage of the press event showing the formal exchange and handshake.
More updates are expected as political parties respond to this latest twist in the Negeri Sembilan political crisis.
