PUTRAJAYA April 24, 2026 – The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) has issued a strong reminder that bullying should never be taken lightly, as it causes significant harm to victims’ emotions, safety, and future — especially among children.
In an official statement posted on X today, KPWKM declared it views the issue of bullying with utmost seriousness, particularly cases involving minors. The ministry expressed full support for the implementation of the Anti-Bullying Act 2026 (Act 876) to establish safer and more harmonious environments in schools and communities nationwide.
“Bullying issues should not be viewed lightly because they have a major impact on the emotions, safety, and future of the victims,” the ministry stated.
Victims or anyone aware of bullying are urged not to stay silent. The ministry advised immediate reporting through official channels or by contacting the Talian Kasih hotline at 15999 for assistance and support.
The statement was accompanied by a powerful 30-second awareness video that dramatises school bullying scenes. It shows a student being physically harassed and assaulted by peers, left injured and distressed on the floor. The video highlights the statistic that 6,208 bullying cases were recorded in 2024 (as reported by Sinar Harian, based on Ministry of Education data up to October 2024) and promotes KPWKM’s “Awak OK tak?” (Are You OK?) campaign.
“Protect our children’s future. Stop bullying!” the ministry emphasised, using hashtags including #KASIHKPWKM, #KitaKanKeluarga, #MalaysiaMADANI, #TalianKasih15999, and #AwakOkTak.
The Anti-Bullying Act 2026, which received royal assent from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on January 10, 2026 (after passing Parliament on December 3, 2025), establishes a dedicated legal framework to handle bullying complaints. It includes the creation of an Anti-Bullying Tribunal as a quasi-judicial body to hear cases, determine outcomes, and award compensation or orders to protect victims. Various ministries — including Education, Defence, Women, Family and Community Development, MARA, and Home Affairs — are empowered to regulate bullying within their respective institutions.
This latest push by KPWKM aligns with broader national efforts under the #MalaysiaMADANI initiative to build a caring, inclusive, and safe society for all.
