KUALA LUMPUR April 24, 2026 – More than 70 per cent of mixing depots nationwide are now fully prepared to implement the B15 biodiesel programme using existing infrastructure, the Ministry of Economy announced today.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said an inspection carried out by the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities confirmed the high level of readiness among the depots.
“Pemeriksaan infrastruktur depoh pengadun oleh Kementerian Perladangan dan Komoditi mendapati lebih 70% depoh pengadun di Malaysia bersedia untuk melaksanakan biodiesel B15 dengan menggunakan fasiliti sedia ada,” the minister stated.
He added that the development demonstrates the country’s infrastructure preparedness in advancing a more sustainable energy agenda while strengthening the national commodity sector — particularly the palm oil industry.
The B15 programme, which blends 15 per cent palm biodiesel with petroleum diesel, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote renewable energy under the Malaysia MADANI framework.
The announcement follows earlier reports on the planned transition from the current B10 blend, with the higher mandate expected to bring environmental and economic benefits to Malaysia, a major global palm oil producer.
The statement was first reported by Berita Harian on April 21, 2026.
