PETALING JAYA April 21, 2026 – Kusaaliny Mahendran, Deputy Chief of DAPSY Selangor, has strongly criticised UMNO and PAS for politicising modern agriculture initiatives and twisting them into sensitive racial or religious issues.
In a media statement issued yesterday in solidarity with YB Wong Siew Ki, Mahendran expressed deep disappointment that technological innovations aimed at increasing productivity, ensuring national food security, and assisting farmers are being manipulated by certain politicians for narrow political gains.
“It is very regrettable when innovations in technology intended to increase productivity, ensure the country’s food security, and help farmers are now being manipulated by certain politicians for their narrow political interests,” she said.
“Instead of engaging in rational and constructive policy debates, they choose to racialise the issue of agricultural technology. Actions that mislead the public, incite racial tensions, and sow panic for political capital are highly irresponsible.”
Mahendran defended the “Closed-house system” (Sistem Tertutup) and “Zero Discharge” (Pelepasan Sifar) technology proposed by Wong Siew Ki as pragmatic and scientific solutions to long-standing problems in livestock farming.
“These modern approaches not only enhance production efficiency but are also able to solve the problems of livestock waste management and odour that have long plagued the community,” she said.
She added that the methods allow environmental impacts from production processes to be controlled according to high standards, proving that the Selangor state government’s direction is pragmatic and committed to solving livelihood issues for people of all ethnic backgrounds through science and technology.
Mahendran described UMNO and PAS’s labelling and politicisation of the agricultural technology issue as a backward and low-quality political tactic.
“They should not mix racial or religious politics into national economic agendas just to gain votes,” she said.
She urged UMNO and PAS to stop using divisive rhetoric that splits society and instead focus on rational policy debates.
“The rakyat needs rational policy debates, not statements that incite hatred,” she stressed.
“DAPSY Selangor will always support progressive initiatives based on facts and science, and will not compromise with any party that tries to use populist rhetoric to achieve political goals.”
Mahendran called on all parties to work together on sustainable solutions to build a more progressive, competitive, and united Malaysia while rejecting any form of political incitement.
