SHAH ALAM April 22, 2026 — The Selangor state government has launched the Selangor Food Warehouse (Gudang Makanan Selangor) at Port Klang as a proactive measure to guarantee sufficient emergency food supplies for residents, regardless of global uncertainties.
Selangor Chief Minister Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari highlighted the initiative as a key effort to ensure food sovereignty remains a top priority for the state, even as the world grapples with conflicts.
“The Selangor Food Warehouse is among the state government’s efforts to guarantee adequate emergency food supplies for everyone. Despite the world facing conflicts, ensuring the people’s food sovereignty remains a priority,” he said via a social media post today.

The warehouse currently holds 5,000 tonnes of rice and 1,000 tonnes of Allana meat. The government targets a significant increase in storage capacity to 40 per cent next year, with an ambitious goal of achieving 100 per cent complete food reserves by 2030.
A total of RM200 million has been allocated to maintain fresh and systematically managed stocks for the long term.
In direct response to the current geopolitical climate — particularly conflicts in the Middle East — the state government has committed an initial RM50 million to boost buffer food stocks. The move aims to strengthen food security, help address inflation, and prevent disruptions in the supply chain.
Amirudin expressed confidence that the initiative will help stabilise prices of essential goods during crises.
“Moga usaha-usaha Kerajaan Negeri dapat membantu rakyat dengan menstabilkan harga barang asas ketika krisis melanda. Insya-Allah, Selangor akan terus menguatkan sikap daya tahan dan mandiri,” he added.
The project is seen as a prudent management of state resources to secure the future for generations to come, under the #KitaSelangor banner.
This forward-looking infrastructure development reinforces Selangor’s commitment to self-reliance and continuous progress in state infrastructure.
