GEORGE TOWN, April 13, 2026 — Member of Parliament for Bayan Baru, Sim Tze Tzin, has announced the single largest allocation from his parliamentary office in the 15th Parliament: RM400,000 to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Minden Heights for the construction of a new open hall (Dewan Terbuka).
In a statement posted on X today, the PKR lawmaker and former Deputy Minister of Agriculture stressed that the funding decision was made strictly on the basis of need, not race or religion.
“I do not choose based on race or religion. All schools are evaluated and assisted according to their respective needs — based on needs, not other factors,” Sim wrote.
He added that investing in children’s education is an investment in the nation’s future, and he has no hesitation in channelling substantial funds to improve learning facilities.
“Fair education is the foundation for a united society and a brighter future for Malaysia,” he said.
The announcement was accompanied by a photograph of the groundbreaking ceremony held at the school, showing Sim and a diverse group of community leaders, teachers, and parents holding ceremonial shovels beside a sand mound, with purple and white balloons overhead.
SK Minden Heights is understood to have been identified as requiring urgent infrastructure upgrades, and the RM400,000 grant marks the biggest single project funding released by the Bayan Baru parliamentary service centre since the current parliamentary term began.
The project is expected to provide much-needed multi-purpose space for school events, sports, and community activities, benefiting hundreds of students in the constituency.
