ISKANDAR PUTERI, Malaysia, June 27, 2025 – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) kicked off its 2025 KPDN Carnival Tour with the Southern Zone event, held at Puteri Harbour, Iskandar Puteri, Johor, from June 27 to 29. The three-day carnival marks the launch of the 2025 Buy Malaysian Products Campaign (KBBM), themed “Jom Beli Lokal,” aimed at strengthening the domestic economy by promoting local products.

Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, announced that the campaign seeks to bolster micro, small, and medium enterprises (PMKS) by expanding their market reach and reducing reliance on imported goods.
“This strategic initiative will empower local entrepreneurs and highlight the quality of Malaysian products as the preferred choice for consumers,” he said during the launch.
Building on the success of last year’s carnival, which drew 761,659 visitors, the 2025 tour will cover six zones: Southern (Johor), Northern (Kedah), Eastern (Pahang), Central (Selangor), Sabah, and Sarawak.
The “Jom Beli Lokal” campaign adopts a whole-of-nation approach, involving ministries, agencies, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to promote local purchases.
KPDN is collaborating with strategic retail partners, including e-commerce platforms, to drive the initiative. The ministry also plans to expand the global reach of Malaysian products through the Local to Global Retail program. The campaign capitalizes on the growing distribution trade sector, which recorded RM1.766 trillion in sales by December 2024, a 5.5% increase from RM1.674 trillion in 2023. In 2023 and 2024, e-commerce platforms TikTok, Shopee, and Lazada generated over RM347 million in sales under KBBM, involving nearly 700,000 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs).
The Johor carnival and the “Jom Beli Lokal” campaign underscore the MADANI Government’s commitment to fostering economic growth and empowering local businesses, aligning with efforts to promote sustainable domestic consumption.
