PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA March 29, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced yesterday that Malaysia has obtained a firm commitment from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to facilitate the delivery of 374 tonnes of Malaysian humanitarian aid to Gaza through the Rafah border crossing beginning in April.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister revealed that he made the request during his recent meeting with President El-Sisi. “Alhamdulillah, President El-Sisi provided a clear guarantee and commitment to ensure this access is eased, thereby enabling immediate aid to reach more than 100,000 residents of Gaza who are in desperate need,” Anwar wrote.
The aid shipment represents Malaysia’s continued commitment to support the Palestinian people amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Anwar emphasised that Malaysia “will never bow to any obstacles, especially from the Zionist Israeli regime that continues to obstruct these humanitarian efforts.”
He further stated: “In a time when the world is tested by indifference and hypocrisy, Malaysia will continue to stand as a principled and dignified voice, defending the rights of the oppressed.”
The Prime Minister urged Malaysians to pray for the safe and smooth delivery of the aid. “Mohon doa agar segala urusan dipermudah dan bantuan ini sampai dengan selamat kepada saudara kita di Gaza, Insya-Allah,” he added.
Accompanying the statement was a photograph of Anwar Ibrahim and President El-Sisi shaking hands in a formal bilateral meeting, flanked by the Malaysian and Egyptian flags.
The development comes as part of Malaysia’s #DiplomasiMADANI and #YakinMADANI initiatives under the MADANI framework, highlighting the country’s proactive role in global humanitarian diplomacy.
Malaysia has consistently advocated for a ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of urgent aid, positioning itself as a steadfast supporter of the Palestinian cause on the international stage.
Further details on the exact composition of the aid and logistics are expected to be released by the relevant ministries in the coming days.
