CHERAS, MALAYSIA March 9, 2026 – The Royal Malaysian Police College Kuala Lumpur (Maktab Polis Diraja Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, or Maktab PDRM KL) marked 27 years of excellence on March 9, 2026, reaffirming its role as a leading institution driving the future of policing in Malaysia.
The milestone was highlighted during the Program Semarak MADANI hosted by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), IG Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd. Khalid Hj. Ismail, at Dewan Sultan Hj. Ahmad Shah within the college premises in Cheras.
The event served as a platform to foster brotherhood, commitment, and strategic direction for the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in addressing contemporary challenges.
In his address, Mohd. Khalid congratulated the Commandant and staff of Maktab PDRM KL for their dedication and urged that the program mark the beginning of a broader, more strategic transformation for sustained excellence in PDRM.
He emphasized that the innovations showcased were not merely technological demonstrations but clear signals of PDRM’s bold, planned shift toward technology-driven and AI-powered policing—aligning with his primary focus on Transformasi Ke Arah Kepolisan Yang Dipacu Teknologi dan Kecerdasan Buatan (AI) (Transformation Toward Technology- and AI-Driven Policing).
“The adaptation to AI is not an option but a necessity for PDRM to remain relevant and effective in the ever-evolving digital landscape,” he stated.
The IGP praised Maktab PDRM KL for proactively developing 20 in-house AI-based systems, reflecting organizational maturity and PDRM’s capability to build sustainable internal capacity without full reliance on external parties.
He expressed hope that PDRM would continue to be seen as a modern, efficient, and highly integrous force—one that not only instills fear in criminals but, more importantly, earns unwavering public trust.
The ceremony featured a special montage on digitalization initiatives and the 20 AI applications developed by Maktab PDRM KL. Among the highlighted systems were:
